History of Toronto is an information website and shows advertising. This page says what the advertising is and how it relates to the articles.
Advertising on the site
Advertisements are supplied by Google AdSense. They are chosen by that service, not by the editors, and can differ from visitor to visitor. An advertisement is not an endorsement or a recommendation by the site.
Independence of the articles
The editors do not accept payment to write, change or remove article text, and no article is written as advertising. Pages that name an organization, a museum or a business do so because the topic requires it, and the text is based on the sources listed on the page.
Promotional and paid links
A link or block placed in return for payment or another benefit is promotional, not editorial, even if it appears among the text of a page. Readers should treat any link that does not belong to the subject of the article as promotional. Paid links should carry the attribute rel="sponsored" so that search engines can recognize them.
Links to other websites
Articles link to archives, libraries, government bodies and museums for the reader’s convenience. The site does not control those websites and is not responsible for their content.
